 Iran, Burundi Discuss Expansion of Bilateral Ties

Burundi’s new ambassador to Tehran Omar Ntezimbere met on Sunday with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and submitted a copy of his credentials to him, AVA Diplomatic reports.In the meeting, Zarif referred to the good record of relations between Iran and Burundi and said Tehran attaches great importance to expansion of relations and cooperation with Africa and also lauds the active role of Burundi at international gatherings and in the African Union.

Referring to suitable grounds for expansion of relations between the two countries, Zarif said Burundi is eager to welcome Iran’s private sector in implementing its development projects.

He wished success for the new Burundi ambassador during his tenure in Iran.

 Rendering humanitarian relief aid to drought stricken people in Burundi is of prime importance, Zarif said.

The new Burundi’s ambassador, for his part, expressed satisfaction with his presence in Iran and called for expansion of all-out relations and cooperation between the two countries.

He also lauded Iran’s proactive diplomacy and the country`s significant achievements at international forums.
