 Peru ambassador meets Ahmadinejad

In a meeting the new accredited ambassador of Peru and submitted his credentials to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, AVA Diplomatic reports.

In the meeting on Tuesday with Javier Paolonich, Peru’s new ambassador to Tehran, Ahmadinejad said Iran is interested in expanding ties with Latin American countries including Peru.

The two countries can share experiences in different spheres with the aim to expand ties, the president stated.

The Peruvian ambassador, for his part, said Lima attaches great importance to relations with Tehran.

After taking office in 2005, President Ahmadinejad expanded Iran’s relation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela and Cuba.

The U.S. has repeatedly voiced its concern over Iran’s growing influence in Latin America and its close ties with leftist leaders in the region.
