 Tajik envoy says Tajikistan in urgent need for Iranian technologies

In his visit to Qazvin Province, Tajik Ambassador to Tehran Dulatali Hatamov conferred with Qazvin Chamber of Commerce officials as well as a number of industrialists of the province, AVA Diplomatic reports.“Iran has many affinities in different scientific, cultural and particularly language areas with Tajikistan,” said Hatamov in a meeting with Qazvin Chamber of Commerce chairman.

“In the 70 years Tajikistan was a member of the Soviet Union, it was at a low technological level, but after its independence, we see growth in several scientific and industrial sectors,” he added.

He called Tajikistan’s economy an intact economy which needs cooperation in all scientific and industrial spheres. “Thus,” he reiterated, “if grounds are provided to expand trade relations between Qazvin Province and Tajikistan, it will definitely benefit both sides.”

Saying Tajikistan possesses the eighth biggest water reserves in the world, he stated that having more than 700 small and large rivers, Tajikistan stands first in water reserves in the region while all these waters are potable.

“At present, Tajikistan’s glass industry is supplied by Russia and China,” noting that Tajikistan needs imports in the industry.

“If glass imports from Iran are realized, in addition to the fact that Tajikistan’s demand in the industry will be supplied for, grounds can be provided for glass exports to other countries in the region too,” said the Tajik ambassador.

Dulatali Hatamov said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is among five main trade partners of Tajikistan, expressing hope that Iran becomes his countries’ first trade partner when ties are expanded.

The main industrial imports from Iran which are of importance to Tajikistan are construction materials, ceramics, food, and converting industries, he added.
