Syrian Ambassador welcomes Iran’s effort for crisis settlement

Syrian ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud highlighted the international ‘Friends of Syria’ conference held in Tehran as measure for the diplomatic resolution of the Syrian crisis, saying the conference’s participants criticized the EU measure to lift the ban on dispatching weapons for Syrian terrorists, AVA diplomatic reports.

“Tehran conference was a measure for a political resolution of the Syrian crisis to end violence and terrorism and hold nation-wide negotiations without any prerequisites,” the Syrian diplomat told Al-Alam.

“There was a consensus among the conference participants on a political resolution for the crisis. They also expressed their opposition with financial and military support by some regional and non-regional countries for some terrorists, opening their borders for them to enter Syria,” Mahmoud said.

“The conference sent a clear message to regional and Western countries that support terrorists, which is that they must reconsider their wrong approaches to Syria and abandon policies that harm the stability of the region and the world,” the Syrian diplomat said.

“Given the closeness of US and Russia’s viewpoints, the Syrian crisis is coming to an end and the Syrian government has also welcomed the closeness of the sides’ points of view,” he added.

“The conference also criticized EU for lifting the ban on dispatching arms to the terrorists and warned against the decision’s negative impact in the region’s security and stability,” he reiterated.

The Syrian envoy noted that Tehran conference called the decision against international regulations and UN Security Council’s resolutions on the fight against terrorism.
