Resuming ties with Syria depends on halt of support for terrorists
The Syrian ambassador to Iran said that a halt on support for terrorism and stopping unilateral sanctions against the people and government of Syria are prerequisites for resumption of ties with Damascus for those who seek to re-establish bilateral relations with Syria, AVA Diplomatic reports.
The recent achievements made by Syrian forces and their allies in the battlefield against terrorists have forced certain regional states to modify their hostile stance towards Damascus. However Syria precondition for resumption of ties with any country is that they should stop their support for terrorist groups,’ Adnan Mahmoud said.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), he added, ‘Those states who want to have relations with Syria, should first give up their support for terrorists, and end their unilateral sanctions that have targeted Syria and its people.’
‘It is quite clear that there is a direct connection between the Takfiri terrorist group [of Daeesh] and the Zionist regime of Israel, as the former is acting as the latter’s arms in the region through invading Syrian territories,’ said the Syrian envoy.
‘Israel supports them, and we believe that the Takfiri-Zionist conspiracy is the continuation of Israel’s plot in the region. But their evil plot in Syria has failed, and they have acknowledged it, too. However, this does not mean that the war in Syria and their hatching of plot against us is over,’ he added.
Adnan Mahmoud also criticized Qatar, Turkey and the Saudi Arabia for their support for the terrorists, saying that the three countries ‘use them [terrorists] to implement their plots against Syria and other countries in the region.’
Syria is struggling with a war since 2011 in which terrorist and Takfiri groups are supported by the West and certain states in the region.
Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflicts.
