Students of University of Qom Learned How to Navigate the UN website

Faculty of Law of University of Qom in cooperation with UNIC Tehran held a workshop on “Finding UN Information and Documentation” for some 45 faculty members and graduate students of international law at Qom on 7 March 2016, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The workshop was conducted by UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani. Students learned some basic facts about the UN, and how to find and retrieve UN information on the UNIC, and the UN websites as well as Dag Hammarskjold Library (DHL) page on the web. Overview and searching through some of DHL resources and databases including UNBISNET, Official Document System (ODS), UN Info Quest were among the programme of the workshop.

The focus was made on UN bodies related to international law such as International Court of Justice (ICJ) General Assembly Sixth Committee(Legal), International Law Commission (ILC) and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). Treaty Collection and UN Audiovisual Library of International Law were among the legal resources introduced to the participants. They learnt how to locate a multilateral treaty, its status and the related reservations.

Recently printed by UNIC Persian copies of UN Charter were distributed among the participants. A video on ICJ was screened for the group.

In addition to workshop, the UNIC brought to University of Qom the exhibition of unique historic photos and documents highlighting special moments of 70 years of UN-Iran partnership (read more here).  This exhibition is organized jointly with MFA and IRNA.
