Tajik ambassador to Tehran, Nematollah Emomzada broke the news about developing trade ties between Iran and Tajikistan to a level of $300 million, AVA Diplomatic reports.
In a note on the reasons for the 35-million-dollar drop in trades between Iran and Tajikistan isolating the total to some $143, the ambassador explained, “The growth in commercial and trade ties within the last 6 months compared to the similar period last year has dropped. But we intend to make up for the loss and work on the upcoming 6 months.”
Emomzada added, “According to our planning, the trade volume is bound to jump at $300 million and considering the commercial and industrial potentials, such objective would be much easier and more achievable than one might think.”
Addressing the presence of Iranian companies in Tajikistan and their activities, the Tajik envoy underlined, “Over the years since the independence of Tajikistan, Iran has made extensive presence in line with economic developments of Tajikistan, including the completion of the Istiqlol Tunnel and the establishment of the power plant, Sang Toodeh 2 which plays a significant role in supplying energy in Tajikistan.”
