 Pakistani embassy marks Independence Day

Messages of Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, sent to mark the occasion, were read by Pakistan Ambassador to Iran Noor Mohammad Jadmani Jadmani, Tehran-based English newspaper, Iran Daily, AVA Diplomatic reports.

President Hussain said in his message, “Today, we are celebrating our 69th Independence Day with new zeal and vigor and with the conviction that this day will be the harbinger of political, economic and social stability.”

He added the nation knows that during the past few years, Pakistan has been deeply influenced by the regional and international developments which not only gave rise to law and order issues but also complicated economic crises making inroads into our homes.

“But no hurdle could withstand the strong resolve of the nation. The Pakistani government has decided with a strong political will to purge various [Pakistani] areas and cities from the menace of lawlessness, terrorism and extremism.

Under this decision, the Pakistani army and other law enforcement agencies are [still] performing their responsibilities in an effective manner, bringing peace to the country.”

He added, on the economic front, the government has adopted solid policies for the economic turnaround.

“The business activities are getting a spur, generating [lucrative] opportunities for the investors, especially the foreign financiers, who are rushing to invest in Pakistan,” he added.

In his message, Sharif said, “[This day] is a day of happiness; a day of bowing down our heads before Almighty Allah in thankfulness and a day of renewing the pledge that we will continue to struggle with unity and oneness to achieve the objectives for which Pakistan was created.”

“We are committed to root-out the menace of terrorism. Operation Zarb-e-Azb is an indication of this commitment.”

Also, addressing the event, Jadmani said Pakistan appeared on the world map as an independent sovereign Muslim state on this day some 69 years ago.

Commenting on Zarb-e-Azb, he said the costly operation has far reaching implications not only for the future of Pakistan, but also the entire region.

Jadmani added Pakistan has always strived hard to establish peace in the region, adding the Iranian government also pursues the same goal.

In May 2014, Sharif visited Iran which marked a new phase in the two countries’ relations, he said.

“The visit deepened mutual understanding and led to a joint commitment to pursue economic partnership [between Iran and Pakistan].

He noted following the nuclear deal of July 14 between Iran and P5+1 and the endorsement of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action by the UN Security Council, the impediments to further expansion of economic cooperation will be overcome.
