 Italian ambassador calls for enhanced cultural ties with Iran

Italian Ambassador to Tehran said on Sunday that cultural ties between the two countries are satisfactory, calling for enhanced cultural ties, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Mauro Conchatori made the remarks in a meeting with head of Iran’s National Library and Document Organization.

The ambassador called for practical steps to be taken to develop cooperation between Iran’s National Library and Document Organization and Italian cultural centers.

Conchatori said that in the past several months of my mission in Iran I have recognized old and deep cultural affinities between Iran and Italy.’

He added that he will do his utmost to expand cultural relations between the two countries and that he would focus on activation of different sectors of bilateral cultural ties.

Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, for his part, pointed to the common historical and cultural grounds between Iran and Italy and said that Iranian ties with Italy are of longstanding cultural, economic and political background and Iran has a very bright image for Italians.

He expressed hope for expansion of mutual ties in the field of culture and said that Iranian public opinion expected a higher level of cultural interaction considering relations between the two countries in the fields of economy and politics.

Amiri offered a proposal to hold a joint conference here in the field of cultural relations between Italy and Iran and added that Iran has a successful experience cultural ties with France.
