UNHCR Representative to Iran, Mr. Sivanka Dhanapala submitted a copy of his credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Javad Zarif on 21 July 2014, AVA Diplomatic reports.In a subtle reference to the situation in Iraq and neighboring countries Dr. Zarif stressed that UNHCR has a critical role to play in the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to its relations with this United Nations Agency.

Stating that peace and stability in Afghanistan are very important the Minister of Foreign Affairs said, “We are hoping for a good transition period in Afghanistan”.
