Iran, Italy Stress Cooperation to Fight Drug Trafficking
Italian ambassador to Tehran Luca Giansanti called for the expansion of bilateral ties and mutual cooperation between his country and Iran, especially in campaign against drug trafficking, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Giansanti made the call in a meeting with Commander of the anti-narcotics squad of Iran’s Law Enforcement Police General Ali Moayyedi in Tehran on Wednesday.
“We thank Iran for rendering many services in the fight against illicit drugs and mutual and direct cooperation between the two countries should increase, “the Italian envoy to Tehran said.
He noted that Italy is ready to share its experiences in the field of campaign against drug trafficking with Iran.
Giansanti also introduced Favio Bernardi as anti-narcotics liaison officer to Iran.
Iran has recently established a central database and strengthened police-judiciary cooperation in a new effort to combat organized crime.
