Serbia’s envoy to Iran said that no change in the nuclear deal will affect his country’s good relations with Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Commenting on an imminent decision by the US on remaining in Iran’s nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Dragan Todorovic said that his country values relations with Iran and any possible change in the deal’s status will not affect the relations as Belgrade has not been a signatory to the JCPOA.
Iran and the world major powers signed a nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2015, under which Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions lift.
Trump will decide on May 12 whether to remain in the agreement with Iran or not.
The American officials have suggested a renegotiation on Iran’s nuclear program to fix what Trump has described as ‘disastrous flaws’ of JCPOA.
Expressing hope that Iran-Europe relations will be enhanced and all issues related to the nuclear deal will be solved, the ambassador said Serbia will pursue its stances on supporting peace and stability.
He also said his country is seeking various ways for enhancing ties with Iran to make them stronger than what they currently are.
