The Tajikistan ambassador to Iran said on Wednesday that since the disintegration of the former Soviet Union, Iran and Tajikistan have developed bilateral relations and signed 160 cooperation agreements over the past 28 years, AVA Diplomatic reports.

In a meeting with the governor general of Bushehr Province, Nematollah Imamzadeh said the documents inked by the two countries dealt with economic, trade and tourism sectors.

He said Iran and Tajikistan share many cultural, historical and lingual commonalties which have prepared the grounds for further interactions between the two countries.

Imamzadeh said his country’s rail network and its connection to five countries have provided extensive capacities for development of relations with other countries of the region.

Referring to high capacities and favorable climatic conditions of Bushehr Province, the Tajik envoy said his country has four free trade and economic zones which can host traders and businessmen of the Iranian southern province.

Governor General of Bushehr Province Abdolkarim Gravand, for his part, said the province enjoys high capacities for attraction of foreign investments.

In order to further expand bilateral relations, there should be more interactions between university professors and students, businessmen and cultural figures of both countries.

Bushehr , once the trade capital of Iran is now called the energy capital of the country, Gravand pointed out.

He said construction work on Shiraz-Bushehr rail road as one of the major components of the North-South corridor will begin this year.
