 Students of Human Rights and International Law Navigate the UN Online

United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) held a workshop “Finding UN Information and Documentation” for some 22 graduate students of human rights and international law from the Allameh Tabataba’i University,  AVA Diplomatic reports.

The workshop was conducted by the UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani. Students learned about some basic facts about the UN, and how to find and retrieve UN information on the UNIC, and the UN websites as well as Dag Hammarskjold Library (DHL) page on the web.  While introducing the research guide of the DHL, she focused on UN documentation, including UN document symbols, human rights and international law information.

Searching through some of DHL resources and databases including UNBISNET, Official Document System (ODS), UN OHCHR – Charter-based Body Database and UN OHCHR – Treaty Body Databasewere also discussed at the workshop.

Copies of UN Charter, Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN System Chart in Persian were distributed among the participants.

Professor Askari expressed his satisfaction with the workshop and hoped that it could motivate the participants to engage with international organizations, especially the United Nations.
