International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People commemorated
International Studies Journal (ISJ) in cooperation with UNIC Tehran commemorated International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People by holding a workshop and simulation on UN Partition Plan for Palestine at UN office on 8 December 2016, AVA Diplomatic reports.
After welcoming remarks by ISJ Editor-in-Chief and Professor of International Law and Political Science at Azad University Dr. Mehdi Zakerian, UNIC Director Dr. Maria Dotsenko delivered the UN Secretary-General’s message on International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People for 25 graduate and post graduate students from across Iran who had participated in this one-day workshop.

Then Dr. Fattah Ahmadi, Dr. Asad Ardalan, Dr. Mohammad Sharif and Dr. Hossein Rezazadeh briefed participants on different issues related to the question of Palestine.
Later, participants played roles of diplomats and simulated the session of the UN Plan of Partition for Palestine and issued a statement.
According to DPI booklet: “the Question of Palestine and the United Nations”, at its second regular session, after an intense two-month-long debate, the General Assembly, on 29 November 1947, adopted resolution 181 (II), approving with minor changes the Plan of Partition with Economic Union as proposed by the majority in the Special Committee on Palestine. The partition plan, a detailed four-part document attached to the resolution, provided for the termination of the Mandate, the progressive withdrawal of British armed forces and the delineation of boundaries between the two States and Jerusalem.
