South Korean Ambassador Meets with Qazvin’s Economic Activists

South Korean Ambassador to Iran Song Woong-Yeob announced that Seoul and Tehran are resolved to enhance their bilateral ties in different areas in the near future, AVA Diplomatic reports.
“There are many capacities in South Korea and Iran for boosting interactions,” the South Korean ambassador said in a meeting with economic activists in Qazvin province, Central Iran on Monday.
He noted that the two countries have good banking interactions that have resulted in boosting economic exchanges between Seoul and Tehran.
Song urged the South Korean and Iranian companies to boost their mutual cooperation, and said, “A sum of 2,000 Korean companies have economic relations with Iran at present.”
In June, the research centers of the Iranian and South Korean parliaments in a ceremony signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Tehran to boost mutual cooperation.
Referring to South Korea’s export of raw materials and car spare parts to Qazvin, Song Woong-Yeob underlined, “Raw materials for mattress production and car spare parts are smoothly being sent to Qazvin from South Korea and are by no means on the sanction list. There is a fine banking interaction between the two countries which helps the transaction take place without any financial and transactional difficulties.”
The South Korea ambassador reiterated, “On the investment of South Korean companies in Qazvin, I cannot propose a certain response, because investments in South Korea take place solely within the private sector and that should be discussed there and only there. I do believe that the fruitfulness of talks between Iran and P5+1 contributes to the closeness of ties between Iran and South Korea.”
Song Woong-Yeob further reminded, “We think that if talks are conducted comprehensively, then we can staggeringly increase the number of companies that have trade ties with Iran which shall be guaranteed by the success in negotiations. I recommend that our private sectors engage in talks before the end of nuclear talks and I hope South Korea and Qazvin be able to boost their bilateral relations.”
