China seeking strategic, long-term ties with Iran: Chinese ambassador

Chinese ambassador to Iran Pang Sen said Tuesday that China has always been seeking strategic and long-term relations with Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Speaking in a meeting in Mashhad with the governor-general of northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi, Pang said that Iran and China have a history of 2,000 years of relations and can promote their ties to the highest level.
Noting that Iran is a powerful and important country playing a key role in the region and world, the Chinese ambassador said that Iran and China share views on strategic issues such as countering terrorism.
Pang expressed satisfaction with the level of trade relations between the two countries, saying the fact that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is in China at present indicates the appropriate level of exchange of delegations between Tehran and Beijing.
Referring to electrification of Mashhad-Tehran railway as an important base for China’s cooperation with Khorasan Razavi province, Pang said that officials from both Iran and China are pursuing the case.
He also said that Khorasan Razavi province has rich mineral resources, voicing China’s readiness to upgrade mutual cooperation on mining.
