Velayati: Dividing terrorists into radical or moderate ones ridiculous

Head of Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said on Monday that ti is ridiculous to divide terrorists into radical or moderate one, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Jagarian on Monday.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Velayati said all-out relations and cooperation between Iran and Russia is of prime importance.

Some western states and reactionary governments in the Middle East region have divided terrorist groups into moderate and radical ones which is very ridiculous, he said. There are no differences between terrorists, Velayati said.

Such divisions are only a pretext to justify their support for evil activities of the terrorist and Takfiri groups, he said.

‘We believe that in addition to Daesh Takfiri group now being supported by the Zionist regime, the US and certain other countries in the region, all should firmly fight any type of extremism and terrorist activities,’ he said.

Iran’s cooperation with Iraq and Syria is due to the official requests of the governments of the two countries but some reactionary governments in the region without having any reasons or justifications are training and equipping terrorists, he said.

This is a blatant interference in domestic affairs of other countries, Velayati said adding that all should exchange views and try to find a way out of this crisis.

The Syrian president is now much stronger than the past and all countries involved in the Geneva talks admitted that they have supported terrorists instead of finding a political solution and in case they continue their support it will not be possible to fight Daesh or other terrorist groups or defeat them, he said.

Velayati also said grounds are well prepared for both countries to expand their cooperation in various fields using their existing potential.

Russian ambassador, for his part, briefed Valayati on current cooperation between the two countries and underlined the need for joint campaign against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.
