Iran deal still likely despite delay: Former ambassador

Richard Dalton, consultant at Chatham House and the UK’s former ambassador to Iran, says an agreement on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program will eventually be sealed, AVA Diplomatic reports.

“An agreement on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program will eventually be sealed despite possible delays to allow a Congressional review,” Dalton spoke on Bloomberg’s ‘Countdown’ with Caroline Hyde and Ryan Chilcote.

Dalton said, “We know very little about the detail of the talks but pace of sanction relief is one problem.”

He said linking elements of the sanctions relief package to steps that Iran is required to take is another problem and there is another problem with Russia that is lifting arms embargo by Russia against Iran.

Asked whether the negotiating parties will walk away without a deal and about prospect of the talks in that case, he said if no agreement is reached in that round of the talks, the condition with the talks will get complicated but prospect of the agreement will not be eliminated. He concluded that he was convinced that the parties will get into agreement eventually.
