North Korean Ambassador to Tehran Kang Sam Hyon in a meeting with Head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society Amir Hossein Ziaee presented an emergency request by North Korean premier asking for humanitarian assistance to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Ziaee thanked the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for supporting Iran during Iran-Iraq eight years of sacred defense and said economic sanctions is a common pain suffered by Iran and North Korea leaving negative impact on life-standard of people in both countries.
Iran Red Crescent Society as a welfare institution and a member of international community is duty bond to render humanitarian aid to all countries, he said.
In response to the emergency request, he said Iran’s Red Crescent Society is to spare no efforts to remove shortcomings of people who are in trouble due to devastating drought in the country.
The request made by North Korean on seeking humanitarian aid due to the country’s famine is unprecedented, said North Korean ambassador to Tehran.
‘We are very glad that friendly relations between the two countries are still strong,’ said North Korean ambassador.
It is very promising to witness that the situation in Iran despite of tough economic sanctions is improving day by day, he said. North Korea suffered economic sanctions and now is in dire need of food supplies, he said.
