Iran, the Netherlands to expand agricultural cooperation
In a meeting between Iranian agricultural Jihad minister and the Netherland’s ambassador to Iran on Tuesday the two sides surveyed the possible fields for expansion of agricultural cooperation and the priorities in those fields, AVA Diplomatic reports.
‘The Netherlands has good potentials in agricultural field, especially in condensed and flower-house plantation of decorative flowers, vegetables, and certain fruits and since we intend to develop condensed plantation due to limitation of water resources the two countries can expand their cooperation in that field,’ said the Iranian Agricultural Jihad Minister Ali Hojjati.
He also noted that Iran has good potential for production of pistachios, raisins and other agricultural products that could sell well in the Netherlands, especially medicinal herbs, which are produced quite organically in Iran and are therefore quite favorite in the world.
Holland’s Ambassador Johannes Dumas, too, referring to the priorities of agricultural cooperation with Iran said that training and scientific cooperation can be the first steps in that field.
He referred to the high potentials of the Netherlands in production and trade of agricultural products, noting that some Dutch producers and merchants are interested in selling their products in Iran, and even producing agricultural products here.
