Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Saturday that India is an important partner for the Islamic Republic of Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Zarif made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran to bid farewell to the outgoing Indian ambassador to Iran Dinkar Prakash Srivastava.
Zarif expressed hope that longstanding relations between Iran and India would serve as a base for promotion of bilateral ties between the two nations. He said that New Delhi’s contribution to development of the Port of Chabahar would help increase tripartite cooperation among Iran, Afghanistan and India.
The Indian ambassador, in the meantime, referred to an imminent visit to Iran by India’s minister of road transport, highways and shipping to sign an MoU for development of the Port of Chabahar and stressed the necessity for enhanced partnership of Indian companies in Iranian economic projects, including petrochemical industry.
