 Iran’s NDF to take advantage of Norway’s SWF expertise

Officials from Iran and Norway urged the need for taking advantage of the experience of the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund in a meeting held on Monday in Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Executives of the National Development Fund Safdar Hosseini and the Norwegian Ambassador to Tehran Aud Lise Norheim.

Hosseini noted that the developing mechanisms of the National Development Fund are as such that the fund as a major economic institution can follow up its targets and remain immune against harms.

Referring to the next month visit of a delegation from the Norway Sovereign Wealth Fund to Iran, he expressed the willingness for meeting with the officials of the fund and said advantage can be taken from administrative experiences of the fund.

Outlining grounds for cooperation between the two funds, Hosseini further remarked that Iran’s National Development Fund is capable of attracting and absorbing resources of other funds and directing such resources towards its projects. Referring to the interest of the Norwegian ambassador in the culture, history and tourism and pointing to her presence in Lebanon and Iran and her acquuaintance with the Iranian culture and beliefs, Hosseinin called on her to play an active role in upgrading West-Iran common cultural perception and strengthening joint cooperation between Iran and her country.

In this meeting, the Norwegian ambassador underlined Iran’s important role in international economy and welcomed establishment of connection between the funds of the two countries. She said she would exert her utmost efforts in strengthening relations between the two countries.
