 Iran, Bulgaria Stress Expansion of All-Out Ties

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Bulgaria’s new ambassador to Tehran Christo Polendakov called for the promotion of Tehran-Sofia relations in various political, economic, scientific and tourism fields, AVA Diplomatic reports.

“There are abundant potentials for the expansion of relations between the two countries and the two sides are sufficiently resolved to make use of the existing capacities,” Zarif said during the meeting on Saturday.

The Iranian foreign minister underlined the need for the further expansion of bilateral ties in political, economic, parliamentary and cultural fields.

The Bulgarian ambassador, for his part, pointed to the status quo of Sofia-Tehran relations, and said, “Iran has a considerable market capacity and during my mission in Tehran I will be looking for the broadening of all-out ties.”

Iranian and Bulgarian officials have tried in recent years to elevate bilateral ties in various sectors.

Bulgaria, officially the Republic of Bulgaria, is a country in Southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Romania to the North, Serbia and Macedonia to the West, Greece and Turkey to the South, and the Black Sea to the East.
