Tehran eager to expand ties with Algiers

Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in Tehran on Tuesday told Sofiane Mimouni, the Algerian ambassador to Tehran, that the Tehran-Algiers relations should be upgraded to the favorable level, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Sarmadi said there are good economic grounds available for expansion of bilateral relations and said promotion of the mutual economic ties is necessary.
He said terrorism and extremism are the most important challenges facing the region and said root causes of the issue should be identified.
The Algerian ambassador, for his part, thanked Iran for its ‘highly excellent’ hospitality during years of his stay as Algerian ambassador to Tehran and underlined expansion of mutual economic cooperation, hoping that anti-Iran sanctions will be lifted.
He also underlined expanding economic exchanges and activities of Iranian and Algerian businesspersons in either country.
