Anniversary of Algeria’s independence commemorated in Tehran

Embassy of Algeria in Tehran on Tuesday night commemorated the 60th anniversary of that country’s independence from the hegemony of colonialists in a ceremony, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The 60st anniversary of Algeria’s independence from the French colonialism was held in the residence of the Algerian Ambassador in Tehran, simultaneously with similar celebrations in various capitals of the world on the occasion.

In this Ceremony the Algerian Ambassador to Iran “Sofiane Mimouni” Welcomed the participant meanwhile he mentioned Algeria Political and Economical situation after the revolution during a Speech, Also explain the importance of strategic relations between Iran and Algerian.

In addition to the ambassadors of foreign countries to Iran, such Iranian officials as the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi, Abbas Akhoundi as Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi, Gholamreza Mesbahi Iranian-Algerian parliamentary member, Head of the Mostazafan Foundation Ali Saeidikia and Reza Ameri new Iranian Ambassador to Algeria were among the prominent guests in the ceremony.

Detailed remarks, “Sofiane Mimouni” Algerian Ambassador in Iran:

The celebration of this glorious event comes this year under very promising developments. Under the leadership of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Algeria has gained back it stability and restored its audience. It has restored the people’s confidence in the state, strengthened and deepened its democracy and established a firm foundation for an efficient, performing and competitive modern economy.

In its endeavor to become an important actor in the world economy, Algeria undertook structural and institutional reforms aimed at laying the foundation of a new economic system. The legal framework has, indeed, been reviewed and adopted in order to liberalize the economy and promote free enterprise. These reforms were strengthened by further measures aimed at accelerating, restructuring and privatizing state corporations as well as at modernizing the banking system and motivating private investments.

The efforts aimed at building a dynamic and competitive economy have borne positive results. The stable political situation of the country has also contributed to a robust economic expansion over the past decade. The economy is growing (4.7% GDP), the country recorded a trade surplus, the inflation rate is kept at low level (4.2%), the external debt has been reduced (US$ 5 billion) while the foreign currency reserves have reached 224 US$ billion.

To build on these positive achievements and boost further the economy, the government has made an exceptional financial effort under a program for an economic recovery. This program, which amounted to US$ 286 billion of public funds for the period 2010-2014, aims not only at diversifying Algeria’s economy away from hydrocarbon revenue but also reducing the regional inequalities within the country, improving infrastructure, creating employment and supporting small and medium sized enterprises (SME).

In order to ensure its successful integration in the global economy and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by globalization, Algeria has adapted its economy to the new realities of the world and taken action to create an efficient and diversified economy, with the ultimate aim of becoming the biggest industrial base in North Africa. As such, Algeria’s business framework has evolved substantially in recent years. An overhauled legislation and new investment incentives are making their mark on the nation’s financial environment. The government intends to encourage private and foreign investments and is offering to the latter all the facilities to develop their activities.

With its ideal geographic location and its huge potential out of its natural resources, Algeria indeed offers today new attractive perspectives for foreign investors.

Having consolidated its stability and restored its audience, Algeria’s confidence in the future is today stronger than yesterday.

With a recovered political stability and an economy with a strong potential of development, Algeria is emerging again as an active player in the regional and international scene.

In short, Algeria is recovering its place and vocation on the international scene and playing an active role in accordance with its potentialities and its geo-strategic location.

Algeria and Iran have, during the last decade, succeeded in developing their relations in a climate of mutual respect and balance of interests. Our two countries, which enjoy excellent relations marked by trust and mutual understanding, are bound by ties of faith and solidarity. This longstanding friendship between Algeria and Iran have forged close cooperative relations in the non-aligned Movement, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Group of 77 (G-77) and the Group of 15 (G-15) where the two countries share the same views on many issues.

On the political field there is a good tradition of dialogue and consultation established between the two countries, as evidenced by the regular consultations between the two Foreign Ministers, during international meetings, conferences and summits. There is also a suitable mechanism for regular political consultations between high officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries. This tradition of consultations between the two countries is necessary in the current international context marked by various tensions and crises and the dominant trend in the use of unilateralism which carry serious threats to peace and security in the world.

With regard to the economic field, Algeria and Iran have endeavored to promote dense bilateral relations and develop a cooperation based on mutual interests. To that end, the two countries succeeded in establishing a legal framework for the cooperation with the conclusion of more than fifty four agreements, memorandums of understanding and cooperation programs covering all economic sectors.

This legal framework aims at boosting and widening the scope of their bilateral cooperation and increasing significantly the opportunities offered by the vast potentialities of both countries. Today, it offers better prospects of economic cooperation and trade exchanges.

Today, many Iranian companies are present in Algeria and doing business with their Algerian counterparts. The presence of more than fifteen Iranian companies in Algeria, prove that the relations between Algeria and Iran are expanding. Indeed, the economic cooperation, which was virtually at an embryonic level, is now developing gradually.

It is true that the positive results achieved so far, while constituting an encouraging indication of the good prospect for the expansion of bilateral cooperation, remains below the potentialities of the two countries and underscores the need for optimizing all the opportunities of cooperation. The common objective of both countries is now to provide a more substantial economic cooperation. Algeria and Iran are today preparing the 2nd session of the High Joint Commission, presided by the Prime-Minister of Algeria and the First Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This session, which is planned to take place in Algiers in 2015, will be devoted to strengthening cooperation, developing economic exchanges and promoting partnership between both countries In view of their longstanding friendship and strong commitment to foster their relations, I remain confident that Algeria and Iran will succeed in taking the best of their respective potentialities and in extending, diversifying and enhancing their bilateral cooperation, thus building a comprehensive cooperation which will meet the aspirations of their respective people.
