China Pursuing Closer Iran Ties: Envoy

China’s ambassador to Iran voiced the Asian giant’s enthusiasm for strengthening bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic, AVA Diplomatic reports.Expansion of relations in all fields with the Islamic Republic of Iran is being considered and pursued by China’s political and parliamentary officials,” Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Pang Sen pointed out.

He made the comments in a Monday meeting with Iranian lawmaker Hossein Sobhani-Nia, who chairs Iran-China parliamentary friendship group.

Sen further called for increased consultations between the Iranian and Chinese authorities on the regional and international issues.

The Iranian legislator, for his part, noted that parliaments of the two countries can play a significant role in facilitating closer political ties between Tehran and Beijing.

Earlier in October, Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan had also voiced Beijing’s willingness to enhance military ties with Iran.
