 Rouhani: Iran, Turkey share common stands on regional, global developments

President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey share common stands on most significant regional and global developments , AVA Diplomatic reports.Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting new Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Reza Hakan Tekin.

After receiving the credentials of the new Turkish envoy, Rouhani said through eradication of terrorists there should be no bloodshed in the region and territorial borders of the neighboring states should remain untouched.

Given religious, historical and cultural commonalities between the two nations, the two sides’ differences of opinions on various issues should be patched up, President Rouhani said.

Referreing to the exchange of visits between the two countries’ presidents, he said Tehran-Ankara relations are now developing.

Formation of a supreme strategic council by the two countries could be regarded as a significant stride towards bolstering mutual relations, he said.

The two sides’ trade exchange would hit a record high of dlrs 30 bn by the year 2015, Rouhani said, adding that the two sides should try to remove existing hurdles to attain this goal.

The new Turkish ambassador, for his part, said he will do his best to broaden scope of cooperation between the two countries.

The far-sightedness of the Iranian president would certainly help reduce ups and downs in the two sides’ relations, he said.

It is not possible to find solution to the current developments in the Middle East region without Iran, he said, adding that there might be some minor differences of opinions between Iran and Turkey on some regional developments but the fact is that the two sides share common stands and views in principles.

Turkey now regards Daesh terrorist group as a threat to its national security and will seriously deal with this group in Iraq and Syria, said the Turkish ambassador.
