 Iran, France call for enhanced scientific cooperation

Deputy Minister of Science for research affairs, Vahid Ahmadi, and French ambassador to Iran Bruno Foucher, in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, explored ways to give a boost to bilateral cooperation in scientific and technological areas, AVA Diplomatic reports.During the meeting, Ahmadi said that scientific diplomacy has turned into a powerful factor in today’s world, which can help deepen relations among nations.

“We are seeking to devise a mechanism to create connection between scientific and research bodies of the two countries,” Ahmadi said.

He called for holding of training workshops, exchange of professors and university students between the two countries and establishment of connection between science and technology parks of Iran and France, as well as arranging scientific tours as ways to increase scientific cooperation between Tehran and Paris.

Meanwhile, the French ambassador said that 2,000 Iranian students with a very high level of knowledge are currently studying in France.

France is well-known in Iran from literary and legal points of view, the ambassador said. However he said that this image of France should change and include scientific aspects too.

Foucher voiced his country’s readiness to increase scientific cooperation with Tehran.
