 Embassy meets Ali Jannati, Minster for Culture

Ali Jannati, Iran’s Minister for Culture and Islamic Guidance this week received ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud and first secretary Thomas B. Høgseth in order to explore possibilities of deepening Iran-Norway cooperation in the cultural field, AVA Diplomatic reports.During the amicable conversation, Jannati emphasized culture and arts as important factors in warming up relations between countries, as well as for the promotion of intercultural tolerance and respect. He stressed the willingness of Iran to formalize a deeper cultural cooperation between Iran and Norway, and mentioned film, music, literature, scientific exchange and tourism as areas with great potential for mutual benefits.

Ambassador Kjemprud welcomed boosting Norway’s cultural cooperation with Iran, and added that deeper cultural interaction will help strengthening bilateral ties and the two sides’ understanding of each other. He pointed to the possibilities of an Iranian film festival in Oslo, the capital of Norway, as well as ideas for a Norwegian film festival in Tehran as positive developments. He also mentioned the planned Norwegian participation at the 32nd Fadjr International Theater Festival in Tehran in January 2014.

Minister Jannati and ambassador Kjemprud also discussed issues related to media and internet freedom.
