Iran, Austria to Boost Trade Ties

Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Friedrich Stift voiced his country’s readiness to expand trade and economic ties with Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.Making the remark in a meeting with acting Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Ahmad Doust Hosseini, Stift said Austria has always maintained ties with Iran even during political crises.
He noted that Vienna has never decided to close down its commercial office in Iran stressing that new chapter will be opened in bilateral economic relations once the sanctions are eased or removed.
The ambassador reiterated that Austria has never encouraged any sanctions against Iran and hopes for a new phase in bilateral ties after removal of the sanctions.
The Iranian official said though ties with Austria have been overshadowed by political issues, both countries are expected to try to remove all obstacles to expansion of bilateral relations with firm will.
He also described the present level of trade exchanges between the two countries as low.
