New Austrian Ambassador to Tehran, Friedrich Stift met President Rouhani and submitted a copy of his credentials, AVA Diplomatic reports.During the meeting, President Hassan Rouhani said so far there has been good progress in nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 group.
He expressed hope that the new round of talks with the 5+1 in Geneva this week would take further effective steps ahead.
He also called on Austria, as a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to play a more active role in the UN nuclear monitoring agency to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue.
Referring to the good history of relations between the two countries, he expressed hope that bilateral cooperation would further boost in all areas during the tenure of the new Austrian ambassador.
The Austrian new ambassador, Friedrich Stift, for his part, hailed his country’s deputy foreign minister’s visit to Iran as positive and constructive, saying, “An objective of this visit was to create the atmosphere of trust between Iran and the EU, and its cornerstone was laid in this visit.”
Stift hailed the role of educated Iranians in the Austrian society in key positions such as medical and engineering ones as significant for Austria. “I am very pleased I am starting my mission in Iran in such a context,” he said.
Ambassador Stift noted the future visits of the two countries’ commerce chamber officials, saying the friendly relations which had been established between the two countries’ chambers of commerce would help pave the way for the expansion of economic and commercial relations between Tehran and Vienna.
