In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, new Austrian ambassador Friedrich Stift submitted a copy of his credentials, AVA Diplomatic reports.Zarif expressed pleasure with meeting of the two countries presidents on the sidelines of 68th session of UN General Assembly in New York, hoping that bilateral ties will further develop in all fields of politics, economy and commerce.
Referring to the inefficiency of the sanctions imposed on Iran by certain states, the top diplomat underscored the significance of efforts to be made by all countries including the European states to create a suitable atmosphere for maintaining diplomatic approach to solve regional and global issues, calling for an active role of European countries including Austria.
Speaking of the challenges endangering stability and security in the region and the world by extremism, Zarif noted the necessity of consultation and negotiation among different countries to counter radicalism, violence and extremism while he underscored the prevalence of moderation and wisdom in international relations.
The Austrian ambassador submitted a copy of his credentials to Zarif and expressed pleasure with the meeting of the two countries presidents in New York.
He hoped that bilateral ties will further improve in all fields after coming to office of the 11th government.
Stift also said that he will do his best in line with promoting mutual cooperation, particularly in economy and trade.
