Saying he held talks with his Qatari counterpart on the sidelines of the 68th UN General Assembly, Zarif stressed that the current developments in the region are sensitive including continued violence and extremism in Syria and Iran and Qatar should continue consultations to solve the ME issues through “political and diplomatic” means.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said that the two countries enjoy diverse capacities to develop economic cooperation and hoped that bilateral ties will further bolster through the implementation of the agreements already signed.

The Qatari envoy, for his part, appreciated cooperation of the Iranian officials with him during his mission and said Qatari high-ranking officials are firm in their decision to deepen relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all the fields.
