Art, Peace and Sustainable Development

“Art, Peace and Sustainable Development” was the topic of a seminar and art exhibition held at Qasr Cultural Centre on 17 January 2019. The event which was organized by Honar Namaye Aban Cultural and Artistic Institute was inaugurated with the opening remarks of the Institute’s Manager Mr. Seyyed Saeid Mirmohammadi, AVA Diplomatic reports.

UNIC Director Maria Dotsenko was one of key speakers and she said it’s important to speak more about role of art in promotion of peace culture, and this conference is a step forward in that direction.

She pointed out that greater account must be taken of the close links between cultural diversity, dialogue, sustainable development, security and peace.

She said the strength of UN is based on multilateralism and its Member States, and Iran with its ancient history, diversity of cultures and ethnicities, diverse and young population is going to play increasingly important role regionally and globally in promotion of peace and sustainable development.

The other key speaker of the seminar was Ambassador of the Netherlands Mr Jacques Werner.

The seminar was followed by a short theater performance, an exhibition of photographs and paintings depicting art, peace and sustainable development.
