Ferdowsi University of Mashhad Students learned more about the UN and its Website

The Student Scientific Society of Law of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in cooperation with the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Tehran held a workshop on “Finding UN Information and Documentation” for some 60 students of law and other fields of studies on 31 December 2018 at Ferdowsi University, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The session started with screening the subtitled New Year video message of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Then UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami elaborated on some basic facts about the UN. She addressed the participants on how to retrieve UN documentation and information from UN and UNIC websites and on the Dag Hammarskjold Library’s (DHL) web page and gave an overview of document symbols and important information-searching tools located through DHL resources and databases, including the United Nations Bibliographic Information System (UNBISnet) and Official Document System(ODS). There was a focus on international peace and security as well as UN peacekeeping.

Persian copies of the UN Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights were distributed among the participants.

Professor of law of Ferdowsi University Dr Azam Amini said that since the field of international law is going to be established very soon in the university, I hope these training sessions will be held more often in Mashhad. Ms Mahtab Ghanbari one of the members of the Scientific Society of Law of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad who had done the coordination of the programme, also said that the students expressed their satisfaction from the workshop and are looking forward to participate in more sessions.
