 Conference on countering terrorism due in Tehran

Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Asad Qaiser, heading a parliamentary delegation aimed at participating in the second conference of heads of the six countries’ parliaments to counter terrorism, will depart for Tehran on Thursday, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Riffat Masood said hat Pakistan last year hosted the summit in Islamabad as the innovator of the summit, adding, ‘The Islamic Republic of Iran will take over presidency of the summit from Pakistan at a conference scheduled for next Friday and Saturday with Tehran as the host and participation of the Speakers and officials from Iranian, Pakistani, Russian, Chinese, Afghan and Turkish parliaments.’

The main purpose of holding the conference is to reinforce regional coordination to effectively counter terrorism in the region, she said.

The heads of the six countries’ parliaments took part in a conference in Islamabad last year, so that it was arranged to make extensive regional cooperation to counter terrorism.
