The Austrian ambassador in Tehran says Arak can be one of the major shipping centers in Europe due to its special status, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Stefan Scholz met on Tuesday with the Mayor and members of the City Council of Arak, adding that the Austrian train company is one of the largest rail vehicles of cargo transport and conducted studies in this regard.
The study aims to set up a cargo transport corridor through Istanbul to Europe, he said.
Austria’s ambassador to Tehran went on to say, ‘Two years ago, the state minister of the lower Austrian economy led an economic delegation to the Central Province, and officials in the province also had a trip to Austria.
‘Both delegations were accompanied by senior economic representatives and there were good evaluations of the parties involved in these trips, ‘ Scholz said.
It is hoped to take advantage of the opportunity generated to pursue cooperation, he said.
The ambassador of Austria to Tehran added that Arak is the homeland of founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is why the city has a reputation beyond the borders.
The Municipality of Arak’s caretaker also said in the meeting that the city has been established by the age of over 2 centuries by the Yousuf Khan during Qajar period, with the aim of establishing a military fort and communication interface, and now has more than 600,000 inhabitants.
Abolfazl Shalibeyk added that Arak has had many effective personalities as Iran’s celebrities source and industry is one of the main indices of the city.
It is hoped that there will be cultural and social cooperation according to the capacity of the two parties, he said.
