Beijing resolved to keep cooperating with Iran, says ambassador
Beijing is opposed to the US unilateral policies, and regarding its global responsibility, will maintain cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, said Chinese ambassador in Tehran Pang Sen on Sunday, AVA Diplomatic reports.
The existing cooperation between the two nations is in accordance with international regulations, the ambassador said in a meeting in Tehran with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, an advisor to Iran’s parliament speaker on international affairs.
He urged the importance of maintaining good relations between Iran and China despite the new US sanctions on Tehran.
The Iranian side said, for his part, that the Trump administration’s sanctions plan against Iran is a costly and futile effort.
Referring to the latest regional developments, Amir-Abdollahian said that Iran welcomes any effort to help stop the war in Yemen.
He regretted that Saudi air strikes on Yemen have intensified over the past few days while the US has, at least in words, called for a cessation of hostilities in the tiny Arab country.
Amir-Abdollahian said that the crisis in Yemen could only be resolved through diplomatic means.
Touching upon the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the official expressed hope that Riyadh government would play a more constructive role in regional and international developments.
He said that the fight against terrorism requires collective efforts of all the countries.
