Exhibition of UN-Iran Historical Photos and Documents inaugurated at Taropood Gallery of Document Centre and National Library of the Fars Province in Shiraz on Thursday 12 April 2018, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Governor General of the Fars Province, Hadi Pazhohesh Jahromi; UN Information Centre (UNIC) National Information Officer, Mohammad Rajai-Moghadam; Head of Document Centre and National Library of the Fars Province, Koroush Kamali Sarvestani; Deputy Head of Press and Cultural Office of Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mehdi Omidbakhsh, as well as a large number of local media reporters and photographers. The message of UNIC Director, Maria Dotsenko was delivered by Rajai-Moghadam.

In the remarks of the Chief of the Fars Province Bureau of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), it was stated that the current exhibition is part of an agreement between IRNA and UNIC for the display of the UN-Iran Historical Photos and Documents Exhibition in various cities across Iran.

It was also stated that the exhibition shows that the Iranian people have been a peaceful, loving and logical nation throughout history.

Ms. Dotsenko in her message mentioned that these photographs and documents reflect more than 70 years of cooperation between Iran and the UN and were collected by the UNIC, the Center for Documents and History of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with IRNA and Institute for Iranian Contemporary Historical Studies and UN Photo Archive.

Visitors to the exhibition

The Document Centre and National Library of the Fars Province, Shiraz Municipality and Islamic City Council of Shiraz as well as the Office of Culture and Islamic Guidance of the Fars Province were all instrumental in the holding of the exhibition, which will be open to the public until 17 April 2018.
