Iran, Austria to open joint chamber of commerce

Iran and Austria will establish a joint chamber of commerce in near future to develop economic relations, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The long-standing relations between Iran and Austria dates back to 800 years ago and the two countries have sent diplomats to work to each other’s countries 500 years ago. Austria is one of the first European countries, which has established a relationship with Iran.

During the recent meeting between the head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce and the Austrian ambassador to Iran, the two officials discussed the opening of a joint chamber of commerce between the two countries.

Generally, the relations between Iran and Austria have also experienced growth following the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The largest Austrian economic delegation including 200 officials and business people traveled to Tehran and a-120 member delegation from Iran also traveled to Austria to expand their economic cooperation.

Austria is the 12th richest country in the world based on GDP (gross domestic product). Austria’s GDP stands at $ 7.319 billion, which 6.1% of that is produced in the agriculture sector, 4.30% in the industry sector and 3.67% in services sector.

The main Iranian products exported to Austria are agricultural products, food, cereals, fruits and vegetables, herbal medicines, egg, dates, dried fruits, handmade rugs, raw materials, decorative objects, glass objects, chemicals and mining raw materials.

Also the main products imported by Iran from Austria are industrial machinery, household appliances, railway equipment, power plant equipment, paper production machinery, colored materials, antibiotics and construction materials.
