POPULATION AGEING

UNFPA Iran- Dr. Eduardo Klien, the Regional Director of Asia and Pacific Division of Help Age International was on mission to Tehran during 5th to 6th March.  The main purpose of his mission was to make proposal to the Government of Iran for holding a regional forum on policy implications of population ageing. This forum mainly aims at facilitating exchange of knowledge and expertise among these countries, and to contribute to the process of policy formulation, AVA Diplomatic reports.

First time in Iran, Dr. Klien’s first presentation introduced the existing and the future challenges of the population ageing.  His professional insights elaborated the crucial role of making strategic decisions today for the facts that most countries have faced or will face in near future.

The participants of his first presentation from WHO and UNICEF addressed his presentation as “eye opening” although they were well informed about the issue.

UNFPA Iran office appreciates his valuable and voluntary contribution to our programme and hopes to continue this collaboration for upscaling its activities in the country.
