 Students of the University of Tehran Are Learning More about the UN Website and International Law

United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), Tehran held a workshop on how to find UN information and documentation for graduate students of international law from the faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Tehran on 13 April 2016 at the UN building in Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The workshop was conducted by the UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani. Students learned about some basic facts about the UN, UN values, and how to find and retrieve UN information on the UNIC, and the UN websites.

Overview through UN News Centre and the issues in focus such as Syria, Yemen as well as migration and refugees and latest information about selection of a new UN Secretary-General were among the programme of the workshop.

The focus was made on the UN bodies related to international law such as International Court of Justice (ICJ) General Assembly Sixth Committee(Legal), International Law Commission (ILC) and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

Mr. Aliakbar Shams, the student-organizer of the programme found the workshop very useful and believed that the group will need another session to learn more about the UN documents and Dag Hammarskjold Library Research Guides.

Persian copies of the UN Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights were distributed among the participants. A video on ICJ was screened for the group.
