 Indonesian envoy says will help Jakarta resolve Saudi-Iran row

Indonesia’s newly appointed ambassador to Iran says he would make any efforts to help Jakarta in its bit to end current dispute between Iran and the Saudi Arabia, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Octavian Alimudin, Jakarta’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Tehran made the remarks at the end of a meeting on Wednesday with Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo.

Iran and Saudi Arabia, as two important regional countries, have cut ties over Riyadh execution of the prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Referring to Jakarta’s efforts to resolve current crisis between Tehran and Riyadh and referring to the membership of Indonesia, Iran and Saudi Arabia in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Alimudin said that his country would use all within its power to help its friendly nations.

Indonesian President on Wednesday received 13 newly-appointed ambassadors of the country before they leave the south-eastern Asia nation for their countries of destination. Presently, Dian Wirengjurit, represents Indonesia’s in Iran.

As one of the biggest south-eastern Asian economies, Indonesia has expressed its interest in establishing energy ties with Iran. Arrays of Indonesian delegations have recently visited Iran.
