 Joint workshop for Shahid Beheshti University professor and PhD students

The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) held a joint workshop for a professor and three PhD students of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services- School of Health, Safety and Environment to broaden their knowledge of the UN and the UN humanitarian affairs at the UN conference room on 23 April 2014, AVA Diplomatic reports.

UNIC Reference Assistant Nazanin Ghaemmaghami addressed them on how to retrieve UN information from the UN website. She also elaborated on basic UN facts and gave an overview of MDGs. She focused on global issues such as environment, health, human settlements, humanitarian assistance, and refugees. Official Document System (ODS) and UN Multilingual Terminology Database (UNTERM) were introduced to the participants.

In order to draw a clear picture about the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Ms. Ghaemmaghami invited UNOCHA National Disaster Response Advisor Mr. Hamid Nazari Tajabadi to brief the participants.

Mr. Nazari introduced OCHA, its role and mission. He also answered the participants’ questions at the end of the session.
