UN organizes Workshop on Sustainable Development Goal’s

Workshop on new Sustainable Development Goal’s (SDG’s) framework for 2015-2030 global planning coordination was organized by Iranian Association of UN Studies (IAUNS) in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) on 20 May 2015 at the UN Office in Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The participants learned more about the new Sustainable Development Goal’s framework for 2015-2030 global planning coordination that will be discussed at the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly at September 2015.

The workshop was facilitated by UNDP Programme Specialist and Head of Inclusive Growth and Development Cluster Dr. Ali Farzin who introduced the SDG framework and indicators.

The 21 participants, mainly legal professionals and law students, then formed into three working groups which produced useful results on the adoption of some of the SDG’s for the local working context and towards sustainable development outcomes.

The president of IAUNS Dr. Nasrin Mosaffa also welcomed the participants and underlined the continuous cooperation of UNIC with IAUNS during the last 15 years.

UN plans to organize more workshops for its partners in order to promotetheir knowledge of the SDG goals and targets.
