Model UN exercise preparation

To hold a successful Model UN exercise on Climate Change during December 2015, a few days after United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris – 30 November-11 December 2015 with the participation of the high school students, the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Tehran, in cooperation with the Rah-e-Roshd Educational Complex organized a training session for the teachers. The session was held at the UN Office in Tehran on 29 September 2015, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami, UNIC Reference Assistant spoke to teachers about Model United Nations. Model UN is an educational simulation and/or academic competition in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. She focused on environment as a UN global issue, UN and Climate Change, United Nations Environment Programme, Tunza: UNEP’s magazine for youth, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol.

UNIC intern, Mr. Ali Zeidi shared his experience about participation in MUNs in Italy in addition to New York.

The teachers said that they are confident that those students will choose to participate in the MUN exercise will enjoy it and learn a lot about the UN and how it functions. They also expressed that the session was useful and now they are better prepared to organize a few preparatory sessions for the students before the actual exercise in December.
