 Austria ready for cultural and academic cooperation with Birjand: Envoy

Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Friedrich Stift said that Austria is ready for cultural and academic cooperation with Birjand, capital of South Khorasan Province, AVA Diplomatic reports.

He made the remarks in a meeting with City Mayor on Monday. Stift said that names of two types of carpet woven here are in our books; ‘Mood’ and ‘Darakhsh’, which indicates fame and history of the carpet in the world.

He underlined Austria’s readiness for cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, culture, academy with Birjand, and added that tourism is one of the most important capacities of Austria.

In a meeting with officials from Birjand Chamber of Commerce on Sunday, we got acquainted with capacities of the province in the fields of agriculture, organic products and industry, Stift said.

Austrian Commercial Attaché Thomas Moschig said in a meeting with south Khorasan economic activists, the two sides considered import and export between Iran and Austria as well as grounds for exporting goods to Afghanistan.

He said a large number of trade delegations will travel to Iran in future to get acquainted with Iran’s economic capacities and in this concern South Khorasan has good potentials.

Mayor of Birjand Abbasali Madih referred to cultural background of the city and said that considering Austria is cultural capital of Europe and Birjand is also a cultural town, so we are ready to form a sisterhood situation between Birjand with one of Austrian cities.
