Italy named special guest of Tehran Intl. Book Fair

The Policymaking Council of the Tehran Intl. Book Fair has selected Italy as the special guest of the 30th edition of the event for May 2017, AVA Diplomatic reports.

 “Appeals to be a special guest of the TIBF have increased and the council agreed to the Italian ambassador’s request for 2017,” the spokesman of the council, Ali-Akbar Ash’ari, said during a press conference held after a meeting of the council on Wednesday. Earlier in September, the council announced Russia as the special guest of the TIBF for 2016.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Cultural Affairs Seyyed Abbas Salehi is the president of the council composed of eleven members. Oman was the special guest of the book fair in 2015.
