Iran protests Saudi gov’t over mismanagement on transfer of Mina victims’ bodies

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Saudi Arabia charge d’affaires in Tehran on Wednesday to protest Saudi government over mismanagement of transferring Mina victims’ bodies, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Saudi chargé d’affaires to express strong objection against the Arab country’s indifference to identification of missing pilgrims and sending bodies of the victims to their countries.
During the meeting, Director General of Consular Affairs of Iranian Foreign Ministry Ali Chegini reiterated legal responsibilities of Saudi Arabia and held the country accountable for the deadly crush in Mina.
Chegini said that Saudi needs to take steps for finding the missing people and treating the injured pilgrims.
He also called for Saudi authorities’ apology to Iranian nation.
The Iranian official also warned of any delay in transferring bodies of Iranian pilgrims.
None of Iranian families have agreed that bodies of their loves ones be buried in Saudi soil and they have all called for transfer of the bodies to Iran in a respectful way.
The Saudi official said that he would inform his country’s officials of Iran’s objection.
